Top Five Unique Customer Appreciation Ideas

Your business is as strong as the loyalty of your customers and clients. Regardless of the quality of your company's services or goods, minor shifts in the economy can drastically change shopping habits or what other businesses are willing to invest in, in the case of business-to-business sales. One way to ensure that your customer or client base remains constant in the face of an economic downturn is to ensure that you have a strong relationship with your customers. In order to build lasting relationships, your company must convey that you are willing to go the extra mile for their patronage, because you understand that they could easily chose another business.

The easiest way to build relationships is to say "Thank you." This may sound like a no-brainer, but when was the last time you sincerely thanked customers for their patronage and trust in your company? While it may seem like a small gesture, customers will surely remember how your company went out of its way to show its appreciation, which increases the likelihood of repeat business. Read the following ways to show your customers how much they are appreciated to build strong, lasting customer relationships:

Product/Service Giveaways - Giving away products or services for free may seem counter intuitive for those wishing to make a profit (all of us). However, giving valued customers, or potential customers a taste of what they might receive if they continue or begin their patronage with your company may make them more likely to come back for more. Of course, this must be done strategically, so there must be a plan to properly execute a product or service giveaway. If selling a product, a simple "The first 50 customers in the store receive..." works. For those selling a service, the same idea applies, but instead of offering the giveaway for those who enter the store, the select service could be given away for those who respond to the advertisement.

Top Five Unique Customer Appreciation Ideas

Have It Your Way Contest - Show your customers you care about what they really what with a "Have It Your Way Contest." Simply have customers put comments in a suggestion box. At the end of the month, determine which customer suggestion is the most valuable to the company and its customers and implement it as a new policy. Announcing the process will let your customers know that you truly care about their experience and are willing to go as far as changing company policy to ensure that all needs are met.

Special Coupons for Top Customers-Giving coupons away to already - loyal big spenders is a great way to ensure that they will continue to be regular patrons.

Open House - Everyone loves a great party! Host an open house for customers, clients and other key stakeholders to show your appreciation. Open houses also present the prime opportunity to showcase new products or services.

Customer/Client of the Month Drawing - Each time a customer or client makes a purchase, they earn one raffle ticket to be placed in the monthly Customer/Client of the Month drawing. At the end of the month, draw one name from the raffle. The lucky winner can be rewarded with special coupons, company merchandise, or something as simple as a mention in the company newsletter. Either way, he or she will surely feel appreciated.

How to Spoil Your Man - 7 Tricks to Pamper Him and Make Him Feel Good All the Time

Have you been feeling a little guilty of the way you have been behaving towards your man lately? Have you been doing too much of neglecting instead of pampering? No wonder he feels lost and unloved! Here are some delightful ways of making him feel loved, cherished and special in every way!

Push the right buttons
Don't ignore his needs. Even if he refuses to open up and let you know - which could be the result of your neglect - go out of your way to make him satisfied and happy. Push the right buttons and make him feel sexy and attractive. Don't lay it on too thick or else he might think you're faking it.

Use your talent in the kitchen
You know how much he likes to eat a particular dish so cook it with a lot of love! He will be thrilled to come home to his favorite meal and be even more excited when he sees you serve it with so much of love! Turn the lights down low and have his favorite music playing softly in the background - he will feel truly loved.

How to Spoil Your Man - 7 Tricks to Pamper Him and Make Him Feel Good All the Time

Use your talent in the bedroom
How long has it been since you modeled in your sexy lingerie for him? Remember those crazy nights when you did all you can just to turn him on? Start doing that all over again. Make him feel like a king. Turn him on by being more loving and looking very sexy! He will love it when you do this for him.

Don't brush his interests aside
Stop ignoring and brushing aside his interests! Just because they are not yours does not mean that you refuse to be attentive and interested in his hobbies and activities. Surprise him by buying two tickets for the game and he will feel really happy. Spoil him further by inviting his friends over for a meal!

Let him know that you appreciate all he does for you
No matter how tired he is at the end of the day, he has never failed to take out the garbage and mow the lawn etc if needed. Let him know you love the way he puts you first. Make him feel special by doing little things that leave him in no doubt about your feelings for him. Hug, kiss and caress him at every opportunity.

Surprise him with something he loves
If you want to spoil your guy, go out and buy him the thing he has been eying for the last year! Whether it is a fishing rod or golf clubs - the price is immaterial - buy it for him and see his face light up! When you do something completely unselfish, without expecting anything in return he will feel thoroughly spoiled!

Give him something to look forward to every night
There is no use saying that you are shy or too fat or feel intimidated. The fact is that you belong to him and if you are willing to pamper and spoil him should be enough! Just know that he still finds you beautiful and do all you can to ease tensions and make him look forward to yet another thrilling night with you.

The Normal and Abnormal ECG Readings

The heart is the organ that circulated the blood in the body through its rhythmic beating. The heart follows a specific pattern for the "heart beats" which are regulated by electrical signals generated in the cardiac region. The signals are mainly generated by the Sinoatrial node (SA node, in the right atrium) and the Atrioventricular node (AV node, in lower ventricular area). When there is a problem in the functioning, the heart beats are studied by the ECG machine and the information recorded by it. The ECG readings help the cardiologist to interpret the condition of the patient's heart.

The ECG readings appear in the form of a graph called the PORST graph or waves. One entire unit comprises of the P wave, the QRS complex and the ST wave, which successively follow each other. The first wave indicates the contraction of the auricles (anterior part of the heart), the second section represents contraction of the ventricles (the lower part of the cardiac chamber), while the ST wave indicate the relaxation or expansion of the ventricles as they fill with blood form the auricles.

The different waves, connected to each other, indicate the contraction and expansion of the auricles and ventricles while regulating the blood flow in the heart. The information is collected by placing electrodes at different points in the body like the arms and legs. About 10 to 12 such points are connected to the Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) device.

The Normal and Abnormal ECG Readings

The ECG readings can be interpreted in three ways:

1. Normal readings

2. Abnormal readings

3. Death condition

A normal heart will produce a systematic graph with regular time intervals. The heart rate will be about 60 - 90 beats per minute. The time difference between the PR wave and the QRS complex will be 0.12 to 0.20 seconds. The QT interval will not last more than 0.40 seconds while the QRS complex will last for time duration of 0.06 to 0.10 seconds.

Abnormal readings will show irregular wave intervals. Sometimes they may show irregularities in no specific patterns. The cardiologist will then have to read the reports to understand the condition of the individual being examined.

When the QT interval is abnormally long, it indicates the risk of death. In such a case, it will be longer than ½ of the R-R wave. Finally, if the QT wave is long a stretched and prolong, it may indicate that the individuals heart is no longer beating, resulting in death.

However, death does not occur due to the ECG procedure. It may happen for various reasons like heart attack or accident that the person had suffered before the examination.

It is important to be aware about the heart, medical news and advancements in order to live a healthy, aware and safe life.

Interpreting EKG Results

Electrocardiogram (EKG) tests help doctors identify and diagnose any present or past heart abnormalities. EKGs are often a part of regular doctor visits for those with a history of heart disease. EKG machines record the heart's electrical impulses via electrodes attached to strategic points on the patient's body. The results are displayed on a computer monitor and then printed out. Physicians or EKG technicians can then determine the patient's heart health by interpreting the printed results.

To get a gage on the patient's heart functions, physicians compare the EKG reading of the patient's heart to the reading of a normal heart. Differences in heart rate, rhythm or contractions between the two readings can indicate possible or past heart attacks, heart diseases or coronary artery diseases. If it is determined that these symptoms exist, further testing is conducted.

There are a wide variety of ways to interpret an EKG result, but most are based on identifying recurring patterns. Heart rate is the first thing EKG technicians look at when reading a set of results. The electrodes cause spikes in the graph reading by stimulating the heart into contracting and relaxing. The first spike (called the "P" spike) indicates the impulses of the heart's upper chamber. A more horizontal line called the "PR" interval indicates the bridge between the contraction and relaxation of the atria. Each EKG has a series of these spikes and dips representing the heart's impulses, with each kind of spike represented by a different letter.

Interpreting EKG Results

A normal heart will have a spike pattern called sinus arrhythmia, which varies slightly form heart to heart. If a patient's EKG readings do not display sinus arrhythmia, it may be a sign of heart problems. Lack of sinus arrhythmia might indicate the future occurrence of sudden heart attacks or heart failure. In such cases, patients are usually recommended for additional treatment. It is up to the patient's physician to decide what kind of attention and what kind is needed. Often enough though, it is the highly-trained EKG technicians whose word has most weight in making a final decision concerning an EKG reading.

Professional EKG reading demands a considerable amount of education, training, and hands-on experience. Because there are several different methods and a ton of specialized terminology involved, most non-medical-professionals have difficulty understanding how EKGs work and what the results mean. If you're having an EKG performed, your EKG technician should be happy to answer in layman terms any questions you might have concerning your reading.

The Important Role Of Public Relations

Public relations is fundamentally the art and science of establishing relationships between an organization and its key audiences. Public relations plays a key role in helping business industries create strong relationships with customers.

Public relations involves supervising and assessing public attitudes, and maintaining mutual relations and understanding between an organization and its public. The function of public relations is to improve channels of communication and to institute new ways of setting up a two-way flow of information and understanding.

Public relations is effective in helping:

The Important Role Of Public Relations

* Corporations convey information about their products or services to potential customers

* Corporations reach local government and legislators

* Politicians attract votes and raise money, and craft their public image and legacy

* Non-profit organizations, including schools, hospitals, social service agencies etc. boost support of their programs such as awareness programs, fund-raising programs, and to increase patronage of their services

Public relations in present times employs diverse techniques such as opinion polling and focus groups to evaluate public opinion, combined with a variety of high-tech techniques for distributing information on behalf of their clients, including the internet, satellite feeds, broadcast faxes, and database-driven phone banks.

As public image is important to all organizations and prominent personalities the role of public relations specialist becomes pertinent in crisis situations. Public relations agencies provide important and timely transmission of information that helps save the face of the organization. In the words of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), "Public relations helps an organization and its public adopt mutually to one another."

Experienced public relations agencies have formulation press releases into which they can plug the company news, as well as a targeted list of publications for their industry. Truly good public relations agencies generally have a good working relationship with key reporters, boosting their chances of getting coverage. Some public relations agencies deal only with large, established clients, while smaller boutique public relations agencies specialize in certain areas.

At present public relations as a career option exists in private companies or government institutions that actively market their product, service and facilities. Public relations training courses are widespread in educational institutions. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 122,000 public relations specialists in the United States in 1998 and approximately 485,000 advertising, marketing, and public relations managers working in all industries.

Most public relations practitioners are recruited from the ranks of journalism. Public relations officers are highly trained professionals with expertise and knowledge in many areas, for example shareholder management during a crisis, the evolving role of the in-house public relations professional, account management skills for public relations, an introduction to financial public relations, an introduction to consumer public relations, an introduction to public relations software etc.

It Costs How Much to Replace an Employee?

Retaining your good employees

The Right People in the Right Places

Studies show that the average cost to replace a worker in the US is ,000.00 (AVERAGE!!). Some HR managers use the rule of thumb that whatever the person's annual salary is - it will cost that much to replace them. One study evaluating the effects of the US Family Medical Leave Act found that "turnover costs for a manager average 150% of salary, including real costs of hiring... and intangible costs such as the new worker's inefficiency and lost productivity while the job is vacant."

It Costs How Much to Replace an Employee?

Costs of lost productivity are as important as direct costs such as advertising or temporary staff. Total costs easily reach 150% of the annual compensation. The cost will be significantly higher (200% to 250%) for managerial and sales positions.

Bliss & Associates Inc., Wayne, NJ consulting firm

Oh, and if you think you can just hire temporary workers and avoid all those costs, think again. The cost of hiring and getting production from a temporary worker is nearly 40% of their salary, and temporary workers tend to have higher hourly rates than permanent ones - and higher turnover rates as well.

Let's put this in real terms.   The lowest number I have seen anywhere says it will cost you at least 30% of an employee's total annual compensation to replace them. Assume you have 100 employees and your average salary is .00 per hour. At .00 per hour + benefits (at 20% of wages), your employees receive ~.00 hour in wages and benefits. Let's say that you have to replace 15% of your employees every year. Taking the most conservative estimate for employee turnover costs that I have been able to find (30% of their annual wages and benefits); each employee you have to replace is costing you ,488.00.

100 employees X 15% X 88 (including benefits) = 2,320 per year.

And that is using the most conservative cost percentage I can find. If we decide to use the national average (,000 / replaced employee) the cost goes to 5,000.00. By using the 'rule-of-thumb' (100% of their annual salary - ,800.00/ replaced employee), the cost will go to 2,000.00... Staggering!

Why are the costs so high?

Why does it cost so much to replace a departing employee? Some costs, like paying off accrued vacation time or the cost of a help-wanted ad, are obvious.

Other costs include:

Increased unemployment insurance costs Lost productivity while there is a vacancy Time costs for the separation (Exit) interview (If your good employees are leaving, you NEED to know why) Separation agreement costs (legal, financial, medical, retirement cash-out, etc.) Overtime from other employees to handle the vacancy (which can lead to burn-out or absenteeism) Time costs to review resumes Time costs to interview candidates Interview expenses for the candidates Possible travel expenses Possible relocation expenses Head-hunter or signing bonus fees Additional bookkeeping; payroll, 401k, etc. Additional record keeping for government agencies Reduced productivity while the new worker gets up to speed Training programs Corporate history lost Morale can be affected Intellectual property lost
There are also risks associated with losing an employee.

Threat of lawsuit Bad PR from disgruntled employee Threat that the employee will take clients to a new firm

What can be done about it?

Job descriptions:

Put together a complete job description with tasks and duties outlined in a clear and concise way so that when someone answers your want ad, they know what they are applying for. Minimize that catch-all phrase "Other duties as assigned". This way, the employee knows what is expected of the position and the manager knows what to evaluate for performance reviews.

Pre & Post employment testing:

Job match/satisfaction can be measured by using the testing and evaluation systems that are available through RP2-Consulting. The cost of these evaluation and testing programs is significantly less than the cost of turnover in the first example above. We can test a candidate before they even show up for an interview and tell you if they have the right attitude, will show up for work when expected and won't take everything in the supply cabinet home with them. We can match new candidates to a given position. We have all heard of the 'Peter Principle' (an individual rises to his level of incompetence). We can look at your existing employees and match their skills and personalities with open positions in the organization. We can also help you identify the right people to put on teams. When teams are balanced (one person's strengths cover another person's weaknesses), results are significantly improved. Finally, managers (and CEO's) need to know their strengths and weaknesses, as those who work with them perceive them. Testing can show you what your true strengths and weaknesses are so that you can focus on improving those things that need to be improved.

Training:

Expecting someone to produce when they do not know how to produce, or what results are needed is absurd. Yet every day, people are hired to do jobs in which they have little or no formal training. Make sure that your employees get the training and guidance they need to meet your expectations. This will lead to better employee job satisfaction and reduced management stress. As a significant side benefit, well-trained employees are more likely to win appreciation for a job well done; and appreciation and recognition among your peers is a huge motivator. We can help you design your training programs to meet your individual needs.

Leadership:

The best plans and initiatives are all for naught if your leadership does not focus on what is working and where you want to go. Have you ever been backing out of your driveway focused on the trash-can you had to avoid hitting at all costs - it's right there in the mirror, just behind the vehicle, if you hit it your whole morning will be ruined - and like a laser, you run right into it...

We go where we focus. One key to your success is to focus on retaining your employees. Working to make them successful is far less expensive than replacing them. Treating them with respect and honor while making them feel like they have a stake in the company and its success will lead to your success. Focus on where you want to go not where you don't want to go. Looking at mistakes and finding fault is focusing on the past and the errors made there. Learn from mistakes and move on. Plan the future your organization wants. Focus on applauding success, both individually and for the team/company.

How To Read Jewelry Marks

The number markings on precious gold jewelry are a bit of confusion to lots of people. We are generally used to seeing a karat or silver mark like this: 10K, 14K, 18K, Sterling, etc. The numbers mean the same thing.

For 14k the number is technically 583 but most manufacturers adopted the European way and make 14k gold a tiny bit over 14k, so the mark is 585 in most 14k jewelry. 18K is marked 750. If the mark is valid and there is a makers mark also in the jewelry, the number means these items are 18k gold.

Here is where the numbers come from. Pure gold is called 24 karat. For 18k gold, there are 18 parts of pure gold mixed with other metals to make the metal suitable for use in jewelry. 24k is too soft alone to stand up or to hold stones well. 18 parts pure gold divided by 24, or 18/24 equals 750. That is where the number comes from. The jewelry is 75% pure gold, 750 parts gold with 250 parts other metals out of "1000" parts. It is easier to think of it as a percent which is pure gold in the recipe.

How To Read Jewelry Marks

Sterling silver is marked 925. Sterling is 92.5% pure silver and the rest is other metal, generally copper.
What does it mean if the ring marked 14K PR? The 14K simply means it is 14K (Karat) gold and because of the K means it would have been made in either South East Asia or The United States. The PR marks are just the Maker or Store ID or even a design mark, and have no relevance to the Value.

The basic decimal formula to work out the quality of gold content is quite simple, as they are all measured in 'Parts per Thousand.' This means that 9ct gold is calculated like this: 9 (for 9ct) is divided by pure gold (24) and then multiplied by 1000 (for pure gold as a decimal). ie: 9/24*1000=375 That 375 is the decimal quality for 9ct gold and is sometimes shown with a decimal point in front - .375

The old Victorian standard of 15ct gold is calculated the same way - 15/24*1000 = 625 (Not quite the numbers you have on your jewelry. Dental gold is 16ct or 666 recurring. But you can also reverse this formula by starting with the decimal and working back. ie: 375/1000*24 = 9

In your case we can use 698/1000*24 = almost 17ct
I have a platinum engagement ring and found a wedding ring that I really like but the band is made of palladium. Is it safe to wear these two metals together without one damaging the other?

It will wear the softer metal OVER TIME but that could take many years. My Grandmothers wedding ring eventually wore away the band of her engagement ring but it took over 20 years to do.

Platinum and Palladium and quite good together but I would take the advice of your local friendly jeweler and have them check both rings. Sometimes the Platinum may be a lower grade in order to make it harder - so have that checked.
